To encourage students to share in New Zealand's heritage. To extend and develop students' ability to communicate in Māori. To enable students to understand and respect Ngā Tikanga Māori. To enable students to gain a deeper understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for Te Ao Māori. Students will learn to read, write and speak about themselves, their families, their interests and hobbies, and a range of everyday topics. Students will be required to collate evidence of work for their assessment portfolio.
