Whanganui High School - Supports City Mission

Over the past few weeks students at Whanganui High School have been collecting non-perishable items to help City Mission take care of people in our city who may need some help this Winter.

Last Friday it all came together when senior students spearheaded by the Community Prefects (who had managed the campaign) and House Leaders got together to sort, pack, account and load over 8600 cans and other goods.

To generate a buzz of excitement, Whanganui High School runs the event as a House competition, and there was much interest in the final results: 4th- Awa; 3rd – Whenua; 2nd-Maunga; 1st– Moana. There was so much generosity shown by so many, and we are grateful to Rite Price Rentals for lending us a van at the very last minute because we had so much  to ship out. Thank you to the many friends and whanau who gave so generously. Olivia Wilson and Xavier Booth (Heads of the Community Prefect team) were thrilled with the results and were so happy that Whanganui High School had pulled together so magnificently to help our community.
